Celtic midfielder Mohamed Elyounoussi could be in line for a game tonight. Neil Lennon has told a press conference () that Elyounoussi is “in contention” for a game tonight.
Lennon added that the midfielder – on loan from Southampton – has “European pedigree”. Elyounoussi has played just shy of 30 games in Europe during spells with Molde and Basel.
But since joining Celtic on loan from Southampton, the Norway international’s chances have been limited. He has only managed two cameos – in the Europa League against Rennes and in the league against Hamilton Academical.

Elyounoussi provided an assist against Hamilton and will be looking to make a similar impact if chosen. Lennon has left the 25-year-old as an unused substitute in the last two league games but he could play against CFR Cluj tonight.
Speaking before the game (), Lennon said: “He’ll definitely come into contention. He’s got good European pedigree and he’s really up to speed now in terms of his fitness and he’s had a few runouts now. He’s looked good in training, as well.”
TBR’s view
If Elyounoussi is sharp and performing at full tilt, he gives Lennon a pleasant selection dilemma. He needs to seize his chance while Mikey Johnston is out and nail down his place in this Celtic side.
There is no doubting that Elyounoussi can offer quality but consistency has been a problem. An underwhelming season with Southampton did not help that but Celtic can help to relaunch his career.
