Neil Lennon confirms Scott Sinclair and Craig Gordon will get rare Celtic opportunities

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has confirmed () that Scott Sinclair and Craig Gordon will play this evening.

There will be rare opportunities for Sinclair and Gordon, who have dropped down the pecking order this season. Celtic face CFR Cluj in the Europa League and Lennon will make numerous changes with the Bhoys already through to the knockout stages.

In his pre-match press conference, Lennon confirmed this. He said that key first-team players like Fraser Forster, Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and Ryan Christie have not travelled.

These Celtic players are being rested so there will be chances for others. With Christie and Tom Rogic left at home, Sinclair has a chance to stake his claim on the wing. The Englishman has only played six times this season, scoring twice, and he last featured in September.

Gordon has played five times this year. The veteran goalkeeper was second-choice behind Scott Bain at the start of the season. Now, he plays second fiddle to cup final hero Forster.

Lennon added that Moritz Bauer and Nir Bitton would play. Leigh Griffiths will also get some game time with Odsonne Edouard left at home.

TBR’s view

Sinclair could be playing for a January move here. The 30-year-old has faded into obscurity after being a key player for Celtic over the past few years. A return to England could be on the cards if he impresses tonight.

Gordon, however, has a different focus. He needs to show Lennon why he should be ahead of Bain in the pecking order. With Forster only on loan and a permanent deal in the balance, Gordon could show why he can be the number one next season.
