Neil Lennon comments on future of Celtic star, amid Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle links

that he hopes to tie Celtic star Odsonne Edouard down to an extended contract, as per reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Newcastle United.

Edouard, 22, has been in stunning form for Celtic this season – scoring a whopping 27 goals for the Scottish champions as well as laying on another 19 assists. That form has obviously attracted admirers, despite Edouard having a contract until 2022.

Tottenham want £30million-rated Edouard, who was also linked with Spurs in January. Meanwhile, claim Newcastle have identified Edouard as well as Rangers star Alfredo Morelos. Arsenal are keen.

Celtic manager Lennon was asked by Hoops icon Chris Sutton about Edouard’s future amid the current suspension of football, and Lennon stated he hopes to tie down the striker’s contract for another season – on top of his current deal.

“Ideally, we want to sit down with him,” Lennon said. “We want to keep our prized assets at least for another year, and then the market can we relgalvanise. Ideally we would like to tie him down to another year on top of what he has, and keep him here.”

TBR’s view – Edouard is crucial to Celtic’s pursuit of 10 in a row

If Celtic are to reach the colossal milestone, then Edouard must be kept at Parkhead. But such a move is not only beneficial for Celtic.

It must be remebered that Edouard is still only 22. He is certainly in the very early stages of his career at Parkhead, and staying in Celtic for another season – after this one – might just further his career when he eventually does move to a bigger league.
