Ndombele likened to Marko Arnautovic by Charlie Adam after Newcastle win
Charlie Adam has likened Tottenham’s Ndombele to Arnautovic.
The BBC pundit spoke in glowing terms about the Spurs midfielder.
After a slow start to the season, Tanguy Ndombele has been in fine form in his last two Premier League outings.
In the win over Newcastle yesterday it was Ndombele who scored a crucial equaliser in the 3-2 win.
It was a fantastic display from the Frenchman.
The comparison to Arnautovic is an interesting one too.
Adam, speaking on the podcast (18:40), stated:
“It’s easy, your job is easy when you’ve got players like him on the pitch you just have to go and get him on the ball.”
“Like I said, I’ve played with mavericks like (Marko) Arnautovic.”
“I just enjoyed getting him the ball and seeing him run at people because I knew he had the speed the power and the strength to get by.”
“It was a joy to watch, I was glad he was on my team but you know your role in the team.”
“Yeah you have to do certain things but you want to get your best players on the ball in forward areas as much as you can.”
“For me getting Arnautovic on it at full flow was great to watch and the Spurs boys will be the same when they see Ndombele running at people.”
“He causes havoc.”

There are a lot of points to dissect from Adam.
He’s right in that Ndombele causes havoc and that he has the same ‘maverick’ energy that Arnautovic has.
It’s also true that Ndombele needs to be given the ball and allowed to be facilitated for.
That’s why Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are so crucial.
However, Ndombele has a much higher ceiling than Arnautovic.
The Austrian was a good Premier League player, but Ndombele has the potential to be a world star.
His performance yesterday was impressive but now it’s time to build on that.
At West Ham next week he can continue to shine and in the 10 role, anything is possible for the Frenchman.
