National media gives Liverpool star brilliant verdict for international display
After helping to inspire Wales to a victory on Tuesday night, Liverpool defender Neco Williams received a glowing verdict from their national media for his performance.
The 19-year-old right-back, who has covered as a left wing-back during the international break for his country, was impressive yesterday.
Wales produced an excellent display to beat Czech Republic 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier, as Manchester United’s Daniel James headed in the winner in the 81st minute.
Welsh national media Wales Online gave Liverpool’s Williams an 8/10 for his individual display, as well as adding he defended majestically at times.
“Wales’ best player in the first half, looking composed, quick and purposeful in possession. Majestic defensively in the closing moments after Roberts had been sent off. Even though he did really well on the left, he’s even better in his natural right-back position,” wrote.

TBR’s View:
If you look at the 24 first-team appearances Williams has made in a Liverpool shirt, it’s been a mixed bag.
The youngster has shown the kind of potential that has made him another graduate from the Reds academy.
However, the step up has looked a little intimidating at times for the teenager, who has made a few errors at senior level.
It must be taken into context though that the full-back doesn’t turn 20 until next month, and his development is heading in the right direction.
His latest international display should be a massive confidence boost for him, and he’ll now return to Anfield where he can learn so much shadowing first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
