Napoli now want ‘outstanding’ £15m Spurs star in January after agreeing £21.5m sale

Napoli are now interested in signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur with Eljif Elmas set to leave the Serie A champions in the January transfer window.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one player who may depart Spurs in the coming weeks. The 28-year-old has featured in every single Premier League game after the opening day of the season. However, he has largely played as a backup for Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr.

With Bissouma now suspended before going away on international duty, the Dane could have a more prominent role in the coming weeks.

Juventus want Hojbjerg. But is now reporting that another Italian side are in the running, with Napoli also interested in the former Southampton captain.

As reported by , Napoli are set to sell Elmas to RB Leipzig for £21.5 million. And with his departure, Tuttomercatoweb reports that the Scudetto holders ideally want to sign two midfielders, with Hojbjerg one of the names on their list.

Tottenham cannot sell Dane without having a replacement lined up

Tottenham cannot afford to sell Hojbjerg in January without bringing a replacement in. The ‘outstanding‘ midfielder does not appear to suit Ange Postecoglou’s style as well as Bissouma and Sarr. But he could have an important role to play during AFCON.

Spurs are interested in Conor Gallagher. So they are keeping their options open heading into the window. But Chelsea are not going to make it easy for Tottenham to do that kind of deal.

Selling Hojbjerg has the potential to be a good move for all concerned. But Tottenham fans should probably not be surprised if he is still in the squad come February given that both Spurs and the player seem content with the role he has if the right move does not come along.
