Nagelsmann appointment could help Tottenham land exciting long-term target

Tottenham have plenty to ponder when it comes to choosing the man to replace Jose Mourinho. In Julian Nagelsmann they have a man who could help the club sign an exciting long-term target.

Marcel Sabitzer is a name that simply refuses to go away. For the last few transfer windows, the club has been mentioned with a move for the RB Leipzig star.

The Austrian is thought to be available for around during the summer. His contract in Germany will have a year to run and the Bundesliga outfit might need to act.

Nagelsmann, like any new manager, would surely want to bring his own players into the club. Sabitzer would represent a familiar face and a player who he ultimately trusts.

The 46-cap international signed for Leipzig from Salzburg in 2015. In 222 games for his current club, he’s scored 51 goals and claimed 41 assists, helping the club become Champions League regulars.

The Sabitzer typically operates in the middle of the park. He does, however, possess the versatility to play as a No.10 or even as a holding midfielder if called upon.

Tottenham’s first eleven hasn’t been bad this season. Certainly in the final third, there doesn’t seem a great deal of concern, with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min doing their thing.

What Spurs have lacked is some real strength in depth. Should Sabitzer arrive at Tottenham, he’d offer the midfield something a little bit different and at 27, he’s a nice age.

Nagelsmann would be a solid signing for plenty of reasons. If it helped Spurs land the exciting Sabitzer, then it’s definitely a move that Daniel Levy should consider making this summer.
