Nabil Bentaleb raves about Danny Rose as he reportedly closes in on Newcastle move

Newcastle United midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has raved about the quality of Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

, the Magpies have agreed a £2million fee to take the defender on loan for the rest of the campaign.

is now reporting that the 29-year-old has arrived at Newcastle’s training ground to finalise his move and is set for his medical imminently.

Rose has been one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premier League during recent years and has been with Spurs since joining from Leeds United in 2007.

He’s fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho in North London and looks set to go elsewhere to pursue regular first-team minutes.

The left-back has earned 29 senior caps for England and a renaissance of form in the second half of the season could help consolidate a position in the squad for his summer’s European Championships.

Bentaleb arrived at St James’ Park on loan from Schalke this month and was previously a teammate of Rose at Spurs, with the duo now set to link up again on Tynside.

“He is a top player everyone knows his quality. He’s had a little bit of down [time] in the past few months in Tottenham, but in football you have some ups and some downs,”

“No doubt about how good he is as a football player and as a guy also. He is willing to come back hopefully and make a big statement to go to the Euros.

TBR’s View:

Rose will have a familiar face in Bentaleb around the Newcastle group if his move to St James’ Park gets over the line and heavily speculation suggests it’s a formality.

The full-back should be in the peak of his career aged 29 and there is still a good chance he can get back to his best.

He will be quite the addition to Steve Bruce’s group given his experience at the top level and it would be another loan signing that would point towards January being a success.
