Myles Lewis-Skelly shares what Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta does that he finds so ‘fascinating’
Arsenal’s season has been somewhat mixed as things stand, but there have certainly been some big positives this term.
The Gunners remain firmly in the picture for the Champions League, having reached the semi-finals following a masterclass against Real Madrid over two legs.
In addition, two more Arsenal youngsters have made it into the first-team and become stars – Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.
Lewis-Skelly was interviewed by Sky Sports prior to Arsenal’s meeting with Crystal Palace and he spoke of what it was like working under Mikel Arteta.

Myles Lewis-Skelly says Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is a ‘genius’
Lewis-Skelly was asked what it was like to work under Arteta, a manager who has made a real name for himself as a coach of the highest standards.
The Arsenal left-back said working under Arteta is “incredible” as he explained exactly what makes the Spaniard so “fascinating” as a coach.
“It’s incredible, you know,” said Lewis-Skelly. “His attention to detail…
“I love to learn, so learning from him, the way he handles and the way he approaches the game, it’s fascinating.
“So yes, he’s a genius really, so I really so a lot of learning from him which I can take and it’s great.”
The unusual thing Mikel Arteta did that stunned Riccardo Calafiori
Arteta has made a name for himself as a manager who isn’t afraid to go against the grain.
His early days at Arsenal saw him freeze out some of the club’s biggest stars as he didn’t feel they matched his vision of the Gunners dressing room.
In addition, Arteta has also done a number of unorthodox things behind the scenes.
For instance, he has hired pickpockets to teach his players a lesson about alertness and played You’ll Never Walk Alone in training ahead of a Liverpool match.
Riccardo Calafiori recently shared an anecdote where he received photos of his family by Arteta, who asked Calafiori what they meant to him.
“As for Arteta, I was immediately impressed by how much he cared about getting to know me,” he said.
“One day on the phone he sent me some photos of my family and asked me to say what each member of the family meant to me.
“Nothing like this had ever happened to me before – I’m not saying that he convinced me with this alone but it certainly represented an important moment.”
