Journalist suggests Tottenham will not be signing ‘special’ £40m midfielder this summer

Tottenham fans are wanting their club to go and sign some new players before the big kick-off but their interest in one major midfield target has been shot down.

💖Spurs have made a big-money move to sign Archie Gray this summer and have also brought over Lucas Bergvall as well.

But with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg leaving for France🉐 and the likes of Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso also looking like being on their way out, there’s gaps to be filled in t he Spurs squad.

For Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou,🎃 adding new players has been one of his priorities ever since the season ended with a bit of a whimper.

Top players like Ebere Eze continue to be linked to Tottenham, while another seasoned Premier League midfielder, Scott McTominay, is also said to be on the radar.

♐Indeed, when it comes to McTominay, it has been claimed Tottenham could pay £40m for the Scotland international.

🅰However, according to Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge, interest in McTominay from Tottenham seems to have been overplayed as it stands.

Journalist clarifies Tottenham interest in Scott McTominay

🤪Speaking for about Tottenham’s interest in McTominay, Bridge shared what some Tottenham fans might see as disappointing news.

🦩“My understanding is that there’s nothing in Scott McTominay rumours at the moment,” Bridge said.

🅘“He is a very decent player, and he’s a bit of a leader, but I don’t think Tottenham are in for him as it stands. As we speak, it’s not a player I think Spurs are pursuing.”

♓Lauded as a , it’s McTominay would bring the knowhow and experience that Postecoglou perhaps craves in his Spurs squad.

ꦜOf course, things could well change over the coming weeks on this one.

🍰But given Bridge has close ties to Tottenham and has been right on a number of Spurs issues, it looks like this one is dead for now.

Further, ꦰErik ten Hag has also spoken of his desire to keep McTominay, something which makes the deal even harder.
