Serge Aurier has sent a message on Instagram to Tottenham Hotspur youngster Ryan Sessegnon, telling the 22-year-old how proud he is of him.

The Ivorian spent four years at Tottenham and although his performances often divided opinion among the fan base, he was always a very popular member of the squad.

Aurier is now at Villarreal and he has had a hugely successful season there. However, it looks like he hasn’t forgotten about his old club and some of his teammates there.

Serge Aurier says he’s really proud of Tottenham star Ryan Sessegnon

After all the struggles early on in his Tottenham career, Sessegnon has finally taken his opportunity. He has been brilliant whenever he has played this season, and Spurs fans are absolutely in love with him.

Conte has used the youngster at left wing-back and that role really does look like it’s perfect for Sessegnon.

Aurier, who knows a thing or two about playing in a similar position, seems to have enjoyed his old Tottenham teammate’s performances as well, and he has now publicly told him that he’s proud of him.

On Sessegnon’s 22nd birthday, Aurier wrote on Instagram: “Happy birthday my son! I am proud of you. Keep going!”

Sessegnon has been brilliant

A lot was expected of Sessegnon when Tottenham splashed £25 million () to sign him from Fulham in the summer of 2019.

After a difficult debut season in which he was only given a little under 800 minutes of game time, the versatile Englishman was loaned out to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim. He played regularly there, but his best performances at the top level have come this season.

Since Conte’s arrival, Sessegnon has been brilliant more often than not. He’s developing really well, and although there is still a lot of space for improvement, the early signs are really positive.

Tottenham take on Norwich City on the final day of the season, and a point will seal the fourth spot. Sessegnon is expected to start again, and he’d love nothing more than a goal to cap off a truly fantastic individual campaign.
