‘My only concern’: Alex Rae has big worry about future of ‘outstanding’ £3.5m Rangers star
Alex Rae has admitted he’s fearful for Rangers when it comes to the future of their star player Connor Goldson.
Goldson, 28, is entering the final year of his contract at Ibrox.
The defender has been a colossus at the back since he joined from Brighton three years ago, so it’s hard to picture a Gers XI without him in it.
He’s a commanding centre-back that’s great on the ball and a physical presence. In addition, he has massive leadership that runs through the side.
Pundit and ex-Gers player Rae has said he’s worried about Goldson’s current contract situation because it suggests he could end up leaving.
“My only concern right now would be Connor Goldson because he’s in the final year of his contract [and] this isn’t a business model where they let players run down their contracts. So I’d like to see Goldson signing because he has been outstanding and is a leader,” Rae told .

Rangers should secure Goldson future
If possible, Rangers need to tie Goldson down to a new improved contract.
The ball-playing centre-half has more than earned the trust of everyone at the Scottish giants, so deserves to be rewarded.
It would surely cost an eight-figure sum in today’s transfer market to sign a replacement for Goldson who’s of the same kind of quality.
A lot of Steven Gerrard’s success has been built from the back. For example, the Light Blues conceded just 13 goals n a 38-game league season last year en route to clinching the Scottish Premiership title.
