‘My idol’, ‘Oblak?!!’ – Liverpool fans react to Fernando Torres best XI selection
Liverpool fans were given an insight into the mind of former striker, Fernando Torres, yesterday as the former Red selected his all-time XI on his birthday.
Torres spent a number of seasons with Liverpool and scored plenty of goals during his time at Anfield.

Indeed, he fired in an impressive 85 goals during his time in the Premier League. Between spells with Liverpool and Chelsea, over three-quarters of those goals came in the Red of Liverpool.
In the main, Torres is a celebrated player in Liverpool history. His partnership with Steven Gerrard is something that is fondly remembered. In fact, this is something Torres touches on during his video selection for his greatest XI.
However, it’s not all Liverpool based from Torres. The former Atletico Madrid star selects just three Reds players in his XI, including, of course, Gerrard.

So with and picking just a few Liverpool players, the Reds fans were always going to be split when it came to agreeing with him.
It’s safe to say, then, that this was the case when we took a look at some of the replies on !

In fairness to Torres here, he could have selected so many names.
Given he was part of the Spanish squad that dominated between 2008 and 2010, he could have selected that entire XI and nobody could complain.
It is a surprise to see just three Liverpool players in there, though. However, he does get Gerrard in. This, in the eyes of most Reds fans, will probably suffice. As will the selection of fellow Spaniard, Xabi Alonso.
