‘MOTM again’, ‘on fire’: Some West Ham fans hail £70k-a-week ace’s ‘sensational’ third-round display
A number of West Ham United fans have taken to Twitter to praise Angelo Ogbonna’s performance for David Moyes’ Hammers in Monday night’s FA Cup third-round victory.
The East Londoners were given a tough game away at non-league Stockport, who defended admirably as the visitors struggled to truly get going in the driving rain.
The game remained goalless going into the final 10 minutes, with extra time looming, but the deadlock was finally broken in the 83rd minute by Craig Dawson.

The West Ham defender rose in the box to meet Jarrod Bowen’s cross and plant a header beyond the reach of Ben Hinchliffe for the only goal of the game.
Dawson and Ogbonna both put in a strong showing at the back once again, with Moyes now surely convinced that this is his best centre-back pairing.
Ogbonna defended well in tough conditions, won everything in the air and successfully kept Stockport striker Alex Reid at bay for the whole game.
Here is what some West Ham fans said on Twitter about the ace:
Ogbonna for me. I’m willing Benhrama to do well but that wasn’t a game for him. He & Lanzini didn’t impact on the game

Ogbonna is comfortably my favorite West Ham player. He is an absolute beast!
Thought he was brilliant the last season at the Boleyn and he’s got better from there….
— Neil Cooper (@NCHammer1980)
Ogbonna about to have a massive back injury from carrying this team tonight.

Ogbonna, followed by Rice, well done for digging out the result and well done Moyes for playing a decent starting 11 ⚒

Solid as a rock. Never panic when a cross comes in cause you know Oggy is heading it away. MOTM again for me ⚒⚒⚒

Angelo my old son, I must say, you are sensational.
— ⚒ Jack Himself ⚒ (@jackgambardella)
Absolutely fantastic performance… again!! Tough conditions but strong, composed and dominated throughout. Thanks big fella ⚒⚒👍👏👏

Mate, you are on fire 🔥 right now 👊 I can’t think of any better defender in the Premiership
— Stuart Mahoney (@StuartMahoney1)
West Ham’s reward for the victory is a fourth-round tie at home to League One side Doncaster Rovers, the winner of that encounter travelling to either Manchester United or Liverpool in the fifth round.
