that he is desperate to see Jake Hastie remain at Fir Park, but will understand if the youngster opts to join Rangers.
that Rangers were closing in on the signing of 20-year-old Hastie. It is believed the winger is out of contract at the end of the season, and the Gers would be able to sign him on a pre-contract basis.
Hastie has broken into the Motherwell side of late, scoring six goals in 12 senior appearances. It has seen him linked with plenty of clubs from down south, as well as Rangers.
Turnbull has been impressed with Hastie of late and even joked about the latter switching from a Vauxhall Corsa to a Mercedes C-Class. But he urged Hastie to remain at Fir Park and sign a new deal.

“I hope Jake signs a new deal here,” “He used to pick me up in his wee Corsa but now he’s got a Merc C-class so he’ll be flashing that about. That’s him big-time now.
“He’s still only a young boy and obviously that’s a big club, so it will be up to him. I’ve been trying to tell him to stay, but it’s up to him. I’m sure he’ll make the right decision.”
TBR’s view
Hastie is Scotland’s next best talent. Winning the Player of the Month award for February, a move to Rangers seems more and more likely – and he would be a great signing for the Teddy Bears.
But Hastie must consider whether a move to Ibrox would be beneficial. Rangers boast Daniel Candeias, Eros Grezda and Glenn Middleton out wide. Jamie Murphy is close to returning, while Ryan Kent could sign permanently.
Jordan Jones is also set to join from Kilmarnock. So, game time would definitely be at a premium. Is Rangers the best club for Hastie? Signing a new contract at Fir Park and listening to Turnbull may be his best decision yet.
