Morgan Gibbs-White reacts on Instagram after Nottingham Forest sack Steve Cooper

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has paid tribute to Steve Cooper after the Reds sacked the 44-year-old.

Forest announced on Tuesday that they had parted company with Cooper after just over two years in the job at the City Ground.

Cooper brought Gibbs-White to Forest from Wolves in August 2022, the Reds paying the Molineux outfit a reported for his services.

The 23-year-old has flourished under Cooper, becoming a Premier League regular at Forest and even captaining the side several times.

Gibbs-White took to on Tuesday evening to say he “learnt a lot” under the guidance of Cooper.

“Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and the club! It’s been a pleasure,” he added. “Good luck boss”.

With Nuno reportedly being favourite to take the Forest reins, it’ll be interesting to see how Gibbs-White will fare in the Portuguese’s plans.

The two previously worked together at Wolves. In Nuno’s last season at Molineux, he sent Gibbs-White out on loan to Swansea.

Wolves then recalled him in January due to injuries in their ranks, but he still until right at the end of the season.

Forest currently sit 17th in the Premier League table, having won once in 13 Premier League games and taken just eight points in that time.

The Reds, who have picked up just one point from their past six matches, are currently five points ahead 18th-placed Luton Town, who have a match in hand.

Forest play Bournemouth at the City Ground on Saturday before heading to Newcastle United on 26 December and then hosting Manchester United on 30 December.
