‘More likely to get him than Spurs’… Tottenham now unlikely to sign £42m Premier League star this month
Journalist Paul Brown has suggested that Kalvin Phillips is unlikely to join Tottenham Hotspur this month, with the Manchester City star favouring a move closer to home.
Tottenham are in the market for a new midfielder after wrapping up deals for Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin.
Conor Gallagher has been heavily linked with a move to north London but recent reports suggest the midfielder is set to turn dow❀n a move away from🦩 Chelsea in January.
Kalvin Phillips is another who is on Tottenham’s radar as the midfielder seeks out🥃 a new challenge.
Newcastle United have reportedly backed out of the race to sign the Man City star due to the Premier 🐲League champions demanding a £7 million loan fee.
And whi📖le Spurs have been credited with an interest, Brown claims the 28-year-old is keen to stay in the north should he leav🦩e the Etihad Stadium.

Tottenham unlikely to sign Phillips
Speaking to , Brown 💝shared what he knows abo🐎ut Tottenham’s interest in Phillips.
“I think Phillips is a cut above anyone I’ve seen Tottenham linked with,ꦬ” the journalist said. “I think he would be absolutely brilliant at Spurs. I think he would thrive there.ꦉ
“He could play several roles in that midfieܫld, and I think he’d be excellent. The only issue here is that I understand that Phillips wants to stay in the north, ♏and if he moves, he’d be looking to move to a club a little closer to home.
“So, it may be that Spurs won’t push too hard in the race to sign him. A few clubs are in the running to get Phillips, and they are more likely to get him ✤than Spurs.”

ꦗPhillips has struggled for minutes ever since joining City from Leeds United for in the summer of♏ 2022.
The Englishman scooped a treble with Pep Guardiola’s side last𒅌 term but made just 12 appearances in the league.
He’s managed just four in the Premier League this season and looks set to move on in search of regular minutes ahead of Euro 𒁏2024.
Phillips would be a decent addition to꧋ Ange Postecoglou’s side given his ability to play in various roles in midfield. But if Brown is to be believed, the midfielder is keen to stay up north rather than move to London.
