‘More confident on the ball than under Nuno’: 25-year-old Spurs player lauded for Vitesse display
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks delivered an impressive cameo for Spurs in Antonio Conte’s first game in charge.
The 25-year-old struggled for game time under Nuno Espirito Santo this season, making just six appearances under the former Tottenham boss.
Worryingly, Winks didn’t even make the Carabao Cup squad for the win over Burnley, suggesting he was surplus to requirements at N17.

Indeed, there has been speculation linking Winks with a move away from Spurs in January.
reported in early October that the England international wanted to go out on loan.
However, Nuno is no longer at Spurs, with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici replacing him with Conte earlier this week.
The Italian received his visa just in time to take the Tottenham reins for Thursday’s Europa Conference League meeting with Vitesse.
Spurs ran out 3-2 winners over the Dutch side in a dramatic game which saw three men sent off.
Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura fired Tottenham into a two-goal lead before Jacob Rasmussen’s own goal put the hosts up by the half-hour mark.

Rasmussen then scored at the right end for his team in the 32nd minute before Matus Bero put Vitesse within a goal of Spurs.
The second half saw no goals, but Cristian Romero earned his marching orders for Tottenham on 59 minutes due to a second yellow card.
Danilho Doekhi then picked up a red card of his own to make it ten men apiece, and Markus Schubert was sent off for handling the ball outside his penalty area late on.
Winks made the substitutes’ bench and replaced Oliver Skipp in the 72nd minute, going on to deliver a good display.
Several media outlets praised Winks for his performance.
gave him 7 out of 10 and wrote: “Back on the pitch as he came on to help see the game out with 18 minutes remaining.

“Played a very good ball over the top that culminated with Markus Schubert seeing red. Really good cameo from the player.“
The also gave Wins 7 out of 10 and wrote: “Influential in Schubert’s red card after releasing Romero with a fine pass.
“Looked more confident on the ball than under Nuno.”
And gave him 6 out of 10, writing: “Looked like he was aware of his need to impress the new boss and played with a promising sense of urgency.”
Could Conte’s arrival help kickstart Winks’ Spurs career once again?
