Mohamed Salah issues cryptic Liverpool contract update which will have Arne Slot sweating

Mohamed Salah has only one season left on his current deal but has started the 2024/25 Premier League season on fire.

His goal against Ipswich saw ♚Salah break the record for the most goals on the opening day, which he then followed up with another strike against Brentford.

He will be joined this season by even more attacking firepower as 💛Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Federico Chiesa, leaving new boss Arne Slot with plenty of options upfront.

🍬Salah remains the talisman at Anfield though and his goals will be crucial if Slot is to mount a challenge at the top of the table with his new side.

🐻However, with his contract running out next summer, Liverpool fans are anxiously awaiting positive news about the Egyptian’s future with the club. On Thursday morning, Salah provided an update on his next steps.

Mohamed Salah remains tight-lipped on future as he ‘doesn’t want to think’ about Liverpool contract

Ahead of Liverpool’s derby clash with Manchester Unitedꦜ, Salah spoke to , where questions about his future inevitably arose.

ꦜRemaining quiet on any details, Salah said: “I have one year left so just let’s enjoy it. I don’t want to think about the contract now, don’t think about anything now, let’s just enjoy it.”

🎉He continued: “I don’t want to think about next year or about the future. Let’s enjoy the last year and we’ll see.”

🅰Whilst Liverpool fans will be happy that he hasn’t ruled out staying, Salah’s vagueness will only serve to fuel speculation about his future.

ꦕHis goal-scoring start to the season shows that, even at 32 years old, his importance to the team remains unquestioned and near-impossible to replicate.

Can Arne Slot convince Mohamed Salah to stay at Liverpool?

It’s not just Salah’s contract that Slot needs to worry about. World-class Dutchman Virgil van Dijk and academy poster boy Trent Alexander-Arnold꧅ could also potentially walk for free next summer.

For the Egyptian though, his legendary time at Anfield is in serious danger of coming to an end this season. 🏅Salah continues to be linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia🍸, with the potential to be the star of a whole region of football an enticing option.

𒐪Given his service to Liverpool, fans could not blame Salah for exploring possibilities elsewhere. He rivals Klopp for time spent at Anfield, with over seven years at the club a rarety in the modern game.

꧙Slot and Liverpool must continue to try and extend Salah’s contract though. To let a player who can surpass 20 goals every season walk away for free would be catastrophic for the club, and leave Slot with an unimaginably difficult task of replacing his output.
