The hosts extended their unbeaten run to two games and more importantly gave the home fans their first home victory at their regular stadium in more than a year. Things seem to be going as normal for t🐎he Canadian teams long suffering supporters when Dominic Oduro gave the Crew the lead after 17 minutes, his second goal in as many games against Toronto.
With 3 minutes left on the clock and given the previous years trials and tribulations all but the most die hard fans must have feared the worst, but a Jonathan Osorio equaliser gave hope. That hope then turned to euphoria as 4 minutes into stoppage time Andrew Wied🐈eman netted the winner to send the fans home ecstatic as the Crew lost for the second straight game and for the first time ever in Toronto.
Montreal Impact 1 Sporting Kansas City 0
In the battle at the top of the Eastern Conference the home side closed to within 1 point of KC with this win, even though with other scores going against then it meant they actually dropped a place in the standings. They do have a couple of games in hand of the teams closes to them. It looked to be heading for a scoreless draw until Blake Smith netted the decisive goal 6 minutes into stoppage time to the delight of the home town crowd. The visitors had their six game unbeatꦯen streak ended with this reversal.
New York Red Bulls 4 Real Salt Lake 3
In th♚e most exciting game of the day, the hosts went up, then fell behind, before getting in front for good very late on. New York struck first as former Everton player Tim Cahill netted with just 11 minutes showing on🐻 the clock.
Things got even better for them as Fabian Espindola, against his former team, converted a penalty 12 minutes later. Real managed to get a foothold in the game as this time they were awarded a spot kick which Alvaro Saborio, back form Gold Cup duty with Costa Rica made no mistake with on the stroke of half-time. That’s how it stayed until the frantic acti♈on began 10 minutes from time. Two quick strike from Saborio to claim his hat-trick looked to have gained the points for the visitors, but the hosts were handed ⛄a chance to draw level when they were awarded a penalty in the last minute of normal time.
Espindola again held his nerve to convert and tie it up again going into stoppage time. That resulted in one more goal as 4 minutes into it Dax McCarty sealed the victory for the home side as they moved up to second in the Eastern Conference as the♓y extended their unbeaten streak to three games. The loss left the Western Conference leaders tasting defeat for a second straight game for the first time this season.
Vancouver Whitecaps 0 Philadelphia Union 1
The Union kept pace towards the top of the Eastern Conference as they extended their unbeaten run to three games after a narrow victory in Canada. Playing against 10 men since minute 8 after the Whitecaps Jun Marques Davidson had being dismissed, they finally made use of the extra player when Antoine Hoppenot netted the all important goal 5 minutes from time. The hosts now have lost their last two encounters as they look to hold on to the final playoff berth they occupy at present.
DC United 1 New England Revolution 2
The Revs jumped into the last Eastern Conference playoff spot after a come-from-behind victory gave them back-to-back wins. Things had started well for the hosts as Luis Silva netted for the second straight match after his move from Toronto. New England got back into the game 11 minutes after the break when Dimitry Imbongo Boele scored and the points were sealed after 65 minutes when Diego Fagundez, for the second match ru🧜nning found the net. United have now lost two straight and four of their last five as they remain routed at the foot of the standings.
Colorado Rapids 2 LA Galaxy 0
The hosts good form continued as with this win they extended their undefeated run to six matches, jumped above LA to sit third in the Conference standings and gained revenge for the earlier season defeat to the Galaxy. Goals either side of the break did the trick. First Hendry Thomas scored 4 minutes before it and the🦹ir lead was doubled 2 minutes after it when Dillon Powers found the net. The visitors have now found themselves on the wrong end of the result in two out of their last three outings.
Houston Dynamo 1 Chicago Fire 1
The home side stretched their unbeaten run to three games, but in the ultra tight Eastern Conference it still meant this slipped out of the final playoff berth. Cameron Waever put the𝔍m ahead on 61 minutes, but they failed to hold it any length of time as Mike Magee scored for the second game running to level it up for the Fire 2 minutes later. Chicago are now unbeaten in two games, but require wins rather than draws to𒉰 get back into playoff contention.
San Jose Earthquakes 2 Portland Timbers 1
The Earthquakes recorded back-to-back wins for the first time this campaign as they held on to claim the points. Victor Bernardez set them on their way when he found the back of the net from the penalty spot after 55 minutes. 3 minutes later their lead was doubled as Steven Lenhart scored. The pressure started to mount 7 minutes from time when Darlington Nagbe halved the deficit for Portland and 2 minutes later the visitors chances of getting something out of the game increased when the hosts Marvin Chavez was sent-off. The home side held out though and victory was secured. Even though the Timbers still stay second in the sta🙈ndings their form must be a slight worry for them as t🅷hey have now dropped two of their last four matches after their fifteen match unbeaten run was ended.
