FC Dallas 3 Vancouver Whitecaps 1  7 September

Dallas extended their unbeaten run to three games, claimed a second straight win over the Whitecaps and jumped over their opponents to sit sixth in the Western Conference with this success. Things did not start that well for the hosts as with only 4 minutes sho🌞wing on the clock Daigo Kobayashi put the Canadian side in front when he converted a cross from Kenny Miller. It did not however take Dallas long to regain parity, as 4🔜 minutes later Je-Vaughn Watson struck the equaliser after he had collected a Fabian Castillo through ball. Just as it looked like the points would be shared Dallas struck twice late on to take the maximum haul. With only 3 minutes left substitute Mauro Alberto Díaz found the target when he volleyed home a Castillo cross and the nerves were settled 2 minutes after when Jair Benítez put the game to bed with a superb long range strike. The loss for Vancouver was their third in their last four outings.

Sporting Kansas City 3 Columbus Crew 0

Despite missing four players due to National team commitments the home side registered their second consecutive victory and also despatched Columbus for the second time this season with this success to steel a march on the sides around them who have not played so far to move three points clearer at the head of the Eastern Conference. Claudio Bieler converted a penalty after 7 minutes to put them into the lead after Benny Feilhaber made a run into the area and was tripped up by Wil Trap. Soony Saad doubled their advantage 4 minutes before the break when he shot home from inside the penalty area from a pass from Bieler. CJ Sapong made the game safe when he netted 10 minutes into the second stanza with a header from a ball from Uri Rosell. The loss for Crew wa♔s their third in their last four outings as their playoff roller-coaster ride goes into another dip.

Seattle Sounders 2 Chicago Fire 1

The Sounders got their fourth success on the bounce after coming from a goal down as they moved into second place in the Western Conference two points behind leaders Real Salt Lake with two games in hand . Mike Magee had given the visitors the lead after 25 minutes when he converted a chance from a pass from Dilly Duka. The hosts however missed an excellent chance to draw level 5 minutes later, but Osvaldoꦆ Alonso could not convert from the penalty spot after a handball by Bakary Soumare. 5 minutes before the break though they did manage to draw level when Lamar Neagle scored for the second game running after Marc Burch found him with a pass . Just as both teams were becoming to come to terms that the spoils would be shared Gonzalo Segares put through his own net as he tried to cut out a Zach Scott cross to hand the initiative to the home side. The reversal for the Fire ended their two game unbeaten streak.

LA Galaxy 0 Colorado Rapids 1

A Edson Buddle goal with 15 minutes remaining saw the visitors back to winning ways after having their nine games unbꦍeaten streak ended in their last encounter as they gained revenge for the match they lost when the two sides first played this campaign and moved to within one point of their opponents, but have played one game extra. Buddle, a former Galaxy player collected a Vicente Sanchez pass and hit a fabulous shot worthy of winning any game from just outside the penalty area. LA who were deprived of their top players away on International duty had their four game unbeaten run ended as they slipped to third place 𓄧out West.

Portland Timbers 4 Toronto FC 0

The visitors snapped their two game losing run to keep hold of the final playoff birth in the Western Conference. Kalif Alhassan struck 1 minute into first half stoppage time when he capitalised on a defencive error by Jeremy Hall who failed to clear his lines. Before three goals late on sealed the victory. After 83 Rodney Wallace doubled their lead when he was p💜ut through by substitute Diego Valeri and Capta⛦in Will Johnson, who was back after missing the last four games with a shoulder injury, struck 4 minutes later when he found the target off a nice José Valencia pass. Valeri then turned from provider to goal scorer as he rounded the scoring off 3 minutes into stoppage time when netted a Valencia cross . The loss for the Canadian side saw their brief two game undefeated run ended.
