‘Miss you’: Chelsea star sends message to Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips

Izzy Brown has told Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips that he misses him, after the Chelsea attacker posted on Instagram following his first game back in a Chelsea shirt.

Brown, 22, struggled at Leeds last season in which he made just two substitute appearances throughout the entire 2018-19 campaign. He joined the club halfway through recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament problem.

The former Brighton and Huddersfield loanee was expected to return by the end of the year, but constant niggles, a lack of momentum and Marcelo Bielsa’s loyal team-choosing saw him sit warm the bench.

Brown has indeed returned to Stamford Bridge where he is working under Frank Lampard, and played the second half of a 1-1 draw with Irish team Bohemians.

He posted on Instagram after the match, before replying to Phillips in the comments – who has himself been strongly linked with a move to Aston Villa this summer, though Leeds want £30million.

TBR’s view – should Leeds move for Brown again?

There is no doubt that with game time, Brown would be a welcome addition at Leeds. If he can reach the level of form he was operating at, during spells with Brighton and Huddersfield, he would improve Leeds.

He has had a hand in 12 goals during 36 Championship appearances throughout his career, but the presence of Helder Costa alongside Jack Clarke, Pablo Hernandez and Jack Harrison means a move is unlikely.

Brown is too much of a risk and it remains to be seen if he can ever fully recover from the ACL injury. Earning £25,000 a week () at Chelsea, it is too much for Leeds to consider.
