‘Miles away’… BBC pundit makes Ange Postecoglou claim about ‘vulnerable’ Celtic

The knives really are out for Celtic after they suffered their first defeat of the season at Kilmarnock on Sunday.

The scatter-gun is out as everyone from the manager, the players and the transfer policy have all been given the treatment this week to explain the sudden drop in Celtic’s performances.

I’m just amazed John Kennedy hasn’t been targeted or Gavin Strachan’s laptop but I’m sure there is still time.

Of course, I jest but it is alarming just how inconsistent Celtic are and BBC pundit, Cammy Bell, has claimed that with Celtic struggling to keep up to the standards that Ange Postecoglou set, that could be another reason for their poor form.

Bell said [], “I feel the inconsistency in their performances, intensity as well, I don’t feel as if they play with the same intensity.

“I know I’m comparing Celtic under Brendan Rodgers to what Ange Postecoglou has done and they’re miles away from that.

“They don’t play with the same intensity and they have got different styles so I appreciate that. But I just feel that something’s definitely not right.

“It just seems as if, when they don’t get that two-goal lead they’re always very, very vulnerable at the back.

“I’m not convinced by their defence at this moment in time so there’s there’s a number of problems there to be honest and I think the title race is back on.”

I personally don’t think that’s the issue as I don’t see anything from this Celtic team under Rodgers that suggests that they are trying to get anywhere close to what Ange did during his two years at the club.

In fact, both styles are so far removed, that the problem Celtic have is that Rodgers is using Ange’s players to try and play a system and style that is completely alien to them.

If the Celtic manager can get his own men in then maybe, just maybe, more consistency will follow. But until that happens, the Celtic fans will just need to hope that Rodgers can get the team through December without dropping any more points.
