Mile Jedinak shares what he remembers Ange Postecoglou saying to Spurs squad immediately after Chelsea loss

Mile Jedinak has shared what he remembers from what Ange Postecoglou would have said to his Tottenham players after their remarkable defeat to Chelsea earlier this month.

Jedinak was speaking on about a game which surely has to be one of the most remarkable in Premier League history.

Ange Postecoglou suffered his first league defeat as Tottenham boss at the hands of the Blues. The game finished 4-1 to Mauricio Pochettino’s side. However, the visitors needed a late flurry of goals to seal the win.

Cristian Romero was sent off for a challenge which saw Spurs give away a penalty. Meanwhile, Destiny Udogie made a terrible decision to dive in when he was already on a yellow card in the second-half.

And both James Maddison and Micky van de Ven – who have arguably been two of Tottenham’s best players so far this season – went off injured. So it could have hardly been a worse evening for Postecoglou.

Mile Jedinak was asked what he could have possibly said to his team after the game. And while he could not recall it all, he suggested that there was no hairdryer treatment from the Spurs boss.

“Do I remember it all? It must have been probably how they went about it, particularly after going against that adversity,” he told .

“I think, for me from memory, there would have been something in there about discipline and not allowing ourselves to lose sight of what we’re trying to do.

“And again it’s very much, it only takes a split second and that’s what happened, it was a couple of incidents in the game where we didn’t get the rub of the green and we ended up making decisions that ended up costing us from a team’s perspective.”

A freak game

There was no need to get too carried away with what happened that night. Ultimately, it was a freak game where everything seemed to go wrong.

Of course, there were repercussions. Romero and Udogie were suspended. Maddison is not expected to play again until the new year. And van de Ven is also sidelined.

But Tottenham have been one of the best teams in the division so far this season. They are definitely the most exciting to watch.

They left the field after a 4-1 defeat to applause from many of their fans. Things like that do not take happen if Postecoglou was not creating something special at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
