Mikel Arteta suggests one Arsenal player needs to be more focused after win vs Bayer Leverkusen
Arsenal’s pre-season is coming to a close with just one more game separating the Gunners and their season opener against Wolves.
The summer has flown over following the conclusion of the Euros with Mikel Arteta‘s side now just a week out from starting their 2024/25 title push.
Arsenal got in some good preparation on Wednesday night with a really impressive victory over the Bundesliga champions, Bayer Leverkusen.
But there is no time for Arsenal to rest on their laurels with ground to make up on Manchester City who have won their previous four Premier League titles.
And it was clear on Wednesday night that Arteta was not going to let his players settle as he provided some words of wisdom to one of the players straight after the game before he even left the pitch.

It was certainly a polished performance from the Gunners against one of Europe’s hottest sides on the back of their showing last season.
Leverkusen almost went the entire campaign unbeaten until losing in the Europa League final against Atalanta.
Yet, Arsenal were able to dispatch of the German champions in north London in a display which will have provided the fans with a lot of optimism for what could be set to come.
If Arsenal are to win the Premier League title, they know by now they are going to need an almost faultless campaign and that is what Arteta is looking to squeeze out of his players.

Speaking to the after the game, Arteta admitted there is still a lot of youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly to work on despite an impressive summer.
“There were a few actions that he did really well, a few he has to understand a bit better – especially the focus and attention these games demand. He really wants it,” said the Arsenal manager.
The youngster has, however, played considerably well under Arteta this pre-season and this seemed to just be instant feedback from his manager who is looking to boost his progression.
What Mikel Arteta said about Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri
In the same press conference, Arteta was also asked about how impressed he has been with Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri this summer.
The Arsenal manager even stated that the pair will not be short of opportunities due to their age given how well they have performed.
“If they continue like they are doing right now. There is no difference whether they come from the academy or we sign them from Germany or Argentina or Italy,” he said.
“If they are showing the quality that they have, the personality they have to play at this level… let’s see. Why would we put any restrictions? If they deserve minutes, they get minutes.”
