Mikel Arteta suggests ‘everything is in the right place’ for another Arsenal star to sign new contract

Arsenal have come in leaps and bounds in recent years, both on the pitch and off it.

The Gunners are now regularly challenging for the Premier League title and advancing to the latter stages of the Champions League.

Arsenal are also getting things right on the player retention front, an area that used to be a weakness of theirs previously.

Plenty of top players at Arsenal have signed long-term contracts in recent years whilst still having two or more years to run.

Now, Mikel Arteta has suggested that things are in the right place for another “world-class” Arsenal player to commit his future to the club.

‘Everything is in the right place’ for Bukayo Saka to sign new Arsenal contract

Arteta, speaking ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League meeting with Crystal Palace, was asked about the future of Bukayo Saka.

Although Arteta remained somewhat coy on the subject, he said he believed “everything is in the right place” for the England star to put pen to paper.

Yeah, when the time comes we’ll have those conversations and I’m sure the club is very on top of it,” said Arteta, as per .

“I think Bukayo has been very clear what his intention is as well. So I think everything is in the right place.”

Arteta also gave Saka credit for how quickly he has got back to speed following several months out due to injury.

“That’s what you are hoping for, and the way he’s prepared, he was giving good signs that he could impact the game like he normally does,” said the Arsenal boss.

“But obviously, to be playing at that level after missing three, three and a half months, it’s not that easy at all. So credit to him and all the staff that work with him.”

What Andrea Berta told Bukayo Saka in Arsenal contract talks

Arsenal have a new director of sport in place, Andrea Berta taking on the role vacated by Edu.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey recently confirmed that Arsenal are willing to offer Saka a £300,000-a-week contract.

Berta is leading talks and would ideally like Saka’s new deal to be in place before he departs for his summer break.

Berta made Saka’s contract a priority as soon as he arrived at the Emirates, along with the likes of William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes.

Saka is a “world-class” player, as per Arsene Wenger – and better still, he’s yet to reach his prime, so it’s crucial for Arsenal to get him to commit long-term to the club.
