Mikel Arteta seriously impressed by Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner
Mikel Arteta was full of praise for Matt Turner after Arsenal beat Everton in their latest pre-season friendly, with the Gunners boss claiming that the goalkeeper is an extraordinary character – .
Turner has played an important role in pre-season so far following his long-awaited move to the Emirates. And he started once again overnight as Arsenal faced Premier League opposition.

It proved to be a successful night for Arsenal. First-half goals for Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka saw Arteta’s side pick up a 2-0 victory against the Toffees.
Of course, it was a significant evening for Turner playing in front of an American crowd. And he will be pleased to keep a clean sheet in the victory.

Turner is still finding his feet at Arsenal. But Arteta suggested that he is most definitely on the right track. And he insisted that he ticks many of the boxes for what he wants from his goalkeepers.
“Really happy with him and the way he’s settled in. He’s an extraordinary character, a lot of personality and he’s great at what we want,” he said, .
“Obviously it was a big moment for him to come with an Arsenal shirt, in the States, in front of the crowd and he did really well.”
Arteta really impressed with Matt Turner
Turner may not be number one in North London. But he does look set to have a big task with Arsenal.
Bernd Leno was arguably one of the best understudies in the Premier League last season. He was unlucky to lose his spot to Aaron Ramsdale. And he did well whenever called upon after becoming the backup.
Reports claimed that Leno is expected to leave this summer. And Arsenal also have Europa League football to look forward to this year.
So Turner is going to have a real point to prove.
But Arteta is clearly confident that he is going to prove to be a good signing.
