Mikel Arteta says £40m Arsenal player makes all of his teammates play better
Arsenal haven’t done that much business in the summer transfer window so far.
Indeed, the Gunners have made just one major signing this summer in the shape of Riccardo Calafiori.
However, there will be a fresh addition to the squad who will almost feel like a new signing.
Jurrien Timber is back fit and ready after a year on the sidelines, and, speaking to Sky Sports, Mikel Arteta has been discussing the role Timber will play this season.
Arteta says that Timber will be a key player, describing him as ‘unbelievable’.
Interestingly, Arteta also hailed Timber’s impact off the pitch, claiming that he makes his teammates play even better with his leadership ability and his on-field coaching.
Mikel Arteta praises Jurrien Timber
Arteta spoke highly of the defender.
“Yes, key, he is an unbelievable player. He’s already earned the respect and admiration of all of us without playing. That’s an unbelievable thing to do after just one season,” Arteta said.
“His leadership, his composure, his skill, the way he competes, we are desperate to have him on that pitch.
“I think he will bring so much to the team
“The teammates love him, he makes them better, the way he coaches, he leads, he’s the first one there, he loves the game, he wants to improve, he is an unbelievable player and he’s going to have a huge impact.”

Jurrien Timber could have a massive season
Arteta is clearly a massive fan of Timber, and he could have a huge season.
Indeed, Timber has been brilliant in pre-season, in fact, Timber has been picked out as Arsenal’s best player in pre-season by The Times’ Paul Hirst.
“The most impressive player I’ve seen so far is Jurrien Timber. I remember this time last year I did some of his pre-season games he was fantastic. He’s looked so confident and so authoritative,” Hirst said.
Capable of playing all across the back four, Timber’s versatility will be very important to Arsenal this season, and there’s plenty of reason to be excited about what the Dutchman can do this season.
