Mikel Arteta calls up ‘skilful’ academy midfielder to Arsenal first-team training ahead of Real Madrid clash
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been putting his players through their paces ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid.
Arsenal are in a great position to qualify for the semi-finals after Declan Rice’s free-kick brace and a great Mikel Merino finish gave the Gunners a 3-0 first-leg win.
However, Real are the kind of team that can easily blow opponents away, especially at the Bernabeu, so Arsenal will be mindful of how the hosts will be on the attack from the off.
Arteta called up a number of academy talents to Tuesday’s training session at London Colney, including a midfielder who is still a schoolboy.
