Miguel Delaney rates the percentage chance of Arsenal signing Raheem Sterling from Chelsea on deadline day
There’s no doubt that deadline day is going to be dominated by talk of Raheem Sterling potentially leaving Chelsea to reunite with Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
Arteta and Sterling worked together during their time at Manchester City, an incredibly successful era for the pair.
Arsenal are looking to add an experienced forward on deadline day, hoping to sign a squad player for a relatively modest fee.
Of course, Sterling is on very high wages at Chelsea, and cost the club a ton of money back in 2022, however, Enzo Maresca has deemed the England international surplus to requirements.
Therefore, Arsenal are talking about signing Sterling, which could potentially be an even bigger shock than when Kai Havertz swapped west London for north.
Raheem Sterling still has chance to leave Chelsea for Arsenal on deadline day
Journalist Miguel Delaney appeared on in the early hours of deadline day and spoke about both Ivan Toney and Sterling.
The journalist admitted that he hadn’t heard anything suggesting that Toney was joining Arsenal, but he did have an update on Sterling.

Delaney said Sterling remained an option for Arsenal, but it was a deal ultimately felt a bit less than a 50/50 right now.
He shared: “Another rumour today about Arsenal and Toney. I haven’t heard anything on that.
“I think they would rather just do a wide forward. Sterling is an option. But there is a lot to get done. It still feels less than 50/50.”
Arsenal would be better off waiting to sign Nico Williams in January
Amid the Sterling rumours, it’s hard not to think that any move would represent a bit of a panic for Arsenal.
Earlier in the window, Arsenal were being linked with Nico Williams at Athletic Club – a genuine world class talent.
However, the Gunners may now be executing a deal for a 29-year-old who has endured an indifferent few years.
There’s no doubt that Arteta could get a tune out of Sterling, a player he knows very well, but is the Chelsea forward an upgrade on Reiss Nelson?
Arsenal would be a lot better off waiting and assessing the situation in January – it’s not in Edu’s style to panic at the last minute, and he should resist any temptation right now.
