‘Might be it uno’, ‘elite’: Some Liverpool fans absolutely blown away by youngster’s display v PNE

A number of Liverpool fans have waxed lyrical about Neco Williams for his superb Carabao Cup display on Wednesday night.

The Reds reached the quarter-finals of the competition after running out 2-0 winners over Preston in the fourth round.

Liverpool had a tough time in the first half as the hosts looked the likelier of the two teams to score.

Jurgen Klopp’s charges failed to get a shot on target in the first 45 minutes, while the Lilywhites had three attempts on target.

However, Liverpool made the breakthrough just after the hour.

A long pass out wide from Tyler Morton found Williams, who cut back for Takumi Minamino to get in front of his marker and turn home.

Then, in the 84th minute, the 20-year-old was involved once again.

Williams’ shot was deflected up for Divock Origi to scorpion-kick the ball over the line.

In addition, the Welshman also took a ball to the face in the first half, his goalline clearance preventing a certain goal.
