Middlesbrough 0-3 Liverpool: Three things we learnt
Premier League title contenders Liverpool have hit something of a blip in recent weeks. Ahead of their trip to Teeside to take on Middlesbrough on Wednesday night, the Reds were on a run of just one win in four league outings, and Jurgeౠn Klopp’s men were in vital need of a result to reignite their title challenge. They would however have to salvage a result on a ground where they hadn’t tasted victory in seven attempts, but fortunately they got the result their efforts warranted.
Two Adam Lallana goals either side of a Divock Origi strike saw the Reds seal a comprehensive 3-0 away win over the ‘Boro, which p༺roved enough to see Liverpool move up into second, six points behind pacesetters Chelsea. It was a masterclass in attack for Liverpool, but a clean sheet will also do wonders for the confidence of Liverpool defence that has had its faults brutally exposed in recent weeks, and it was a happy return to first-team action for Simon Mignolet, who kept a clean sheet in goal after coming in for Loris Karius, dropped by manager Jurgen Klopp following high profile errors in his two most recent outings.
But what did we learn from this dazzlin๊g display, as Liverpool flexed their muscles on Teeside to get back to winning ways?
