Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro both left amazed by £19m Tottenham player vs Nottingham Forest

Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro have both lauded one of their Tottenham Hotspur teammates following yesterday’s win over Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham moved into the top four with a 3-1 victory in north London on Sunday but it was hardly plain-sailing for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Spurs got off to a flyer as Timo Werner’s cross forced Murillo to turn the ball into his own goal in the 15th minute. But a goal against the run of play for Forest led to Tottenham losing their way in the opening period.

Chris Wood produced a well-taken finish to level things up 12 minutes after the opener and Spurs were fortunate to head into the break at 1-1.

Wood struck the post following a save from Guglielmo Vicario and Postecoglou clearly wasn’t happy with what he’d seen in the opening 45 minutes.

It led to the Aussie boss making a couple of changes in midfield at the break, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur replacing Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma.

The changes had the desired effect as Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro netted inside the opening 15 minutes of the second half.

Bentancur dropped to the bench following the 1-1 draw at West Ham but the midfielder caught the eye against Forest.

Van de Ven and Porro laud Bentancur after Tottenham beat Forest

Bentancur took to following yesterday’s win and wrote: “Big win lads! Vamos!”

The post led to praise from a couple of his Spurs teammates, with Van de Ven labelling the Uruguayan a ‘boss’.

Porro also replied: “Mi rodriiii.”

Bentancur’s performance against Forest in numbers

Bentancur is yet to get back to his best following a couple of significant injuries over the past year.

The 26-year-old suffered an ACL injury last term and returned to action back in October only to pick up an ankle injury against Aston Villa in his first start of the season. He even admitted just last month that his form has dipped in recent weeks.

But Postecoglou will be encouraged by the man’s latest display from the bench, which ultimately helped Tottenham pick up a vital win.

According to , Bentancur completed 27 of 32 passes attempted against Forest while also making one key pass.

The Uruguayan has already displayed his ability in a Tottenham short but has been unfortunate with injuries over the past year.

Having Bentancur back to his best ahead of the run-in would be a huge boost for Postecoglou as he bids to deliver a top-four finish.
