Micky Hazard responds when asked if Tottenham should sell Yves Bissouma

Tottenham Hotspur legend Micky Hazard has criticised Spurs midfielder Yves Bissouma for the “silly” sending-off against Nottingham Forest.

However, the White Hart Lane icon has stressed that he does not want the Tottenham man sold, and that he just needs to improve on his discipline.

Spurs ran out 2-0 winners at the City Ground on Friday night to make it two consecutive wins in the Premier League.

However, Ange Postecoglou‘s side finished the game with ten men after Bissouma was sent off for a high challenge on Ryan Yates.

Referee Jarred Gillett initially showed the Tottenham star a yellow card, but VAR referee Michael Oliver intervened.

He told his colleague to watch the incident on the pitchside monitor, and this prompted Gillett to upgrade from yellow to red.

It was Bissouma’s second red of the season, meaning a four-match ban will follow.

And with the player heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, he’ll be unavailable until the end of January at least.

Tottenham ‘will learn but it’s got to start now’

Hazard wrote on X after the game, praising Tottenham for being a good side and saying things are “looking fantastic”.

However, he acknowledged that Spurs need to stop letting teams back into the game via poor discipline and the learning process has to start now.

But when asked by a fan whether he would sell Bissouma in the summer, Hazard made his feelings clear.

Bissouma, who saw red against Luton earlier in the season, will miss matches against Everton, Brighton, Bournemouth and Burnley.

He is also the seventh player to be red-carded twice in a single Premier League season for Tottenham, and the first since Kyle Naughton in 2014/15.

Bissouma is a quality player and we’re seeing the best of him in terms of ability and gameplay now Postecoglou’s at the helm, but the disciplinary side certainly needs more work.
