Michel Salgado reacts as Arsenal teenager confirms new deal on Instagram
Charlie Patino has confirmed on Instagram that he has signed his first professional contract with Arsenal after shining for the club’s Under-18 side last season – and Real Madrid legend Michel Salgado has responded to his post.
Patino, 17, has caught plenty of admirers for his performances in the Under-18 Arsenal side – in which he has now clocked up 18 appearances for the youth side. Naturally a holding midfielder, Patino made his Under-18 Arsenal debut at just 14 years of age.
He has also captained England’s Under-16 side, and has even been called-up to England Under-17’s side. His rapid progression has been noticed by Gunners fans – and indeed the club itself, who have decided to reward with him professional terms.
Patino posted his delight on Instagram after it was confirmed he had signed professional terms, and the Watford-born midfielder stated that his dream of making his senior debut for Arsenal continues to spur him on.
Patino has a plethora of midfieldera ahead of him in the pecking order before he has a chance of making that dream a reality. Thomas Partey’s arrival has pushed him further down the midfield rankings, but his aim is likely to be more realistic this season.
Indeed, aiming for a place in the club’s Under-23 side this season is a good goal. Patino was a part of the Arsenal youth side that played in the U20 International Bali Cup 2019 last year, a competition hosted by Salgado.
Now, Salgado has wished him well on Instagram – and urged him to “keep it up”.
