Michael Stewart things Rangers already have a better striker than Alfredo Morelos, after Saturday win
that he thinks Rangers already have a better striker than Alfredo Morelos – in the form of Kemar Roofe. Morelos will return to training this week after being given an extended break following the Copa America. But Stewart reckons Roofe is better.
Rangers got their 2021-22 campaign off to a perfect start – beating Livingston 3-0 at Ibrox in front of supporters. A clean sheet, as well as goals for Ianis Hagi, Scott Wright and Roofe saw Rangers clinch three points. Morelos remains in isolation after returning to Scotland last week.
The Colombia international will miss Tuesday’s game against Malmo – a crucial Champions League qualifier. Roofe will, too – but if he was available, Stewart would start him. BBC pundit Stewart thinks Roofe is the club’s best centre-forward, even better than Morelos and Fashion Sakala.
“He is probably the best striker Rangers have got. The most-complete, all-round striker,” . “He’s got everything you want from a number nine – he’s played in numerous positions. He’s so strong, physical, a good finisher as well. He is always alive to events going in and around the box.”

Is Roofe really better than Rangers star Morelos, amid Stewart claim?
While Morelos has always been excellent at riling up opponents, using his incredible strength to get the better of the opposition – Roofe is technically better. Morelos gets goals and assists, though. Last season, Morelos scored 17 but created another 13 goals in his 44 games.
Roofe only needed 36 games to outscore Morelos with 18. But he only laid on three assists. Morelos is more effective as a number nine given his strength, but Roofe is probably a more important player as he can play out wide or in the 10 role. Tricky to compare, but both are excellent players.
