Michael Owen issues honest verdict on Divock Origi after Liverpool win
Michael Owen that he does not believe that Divock Origi is anywhere near the level of the players who regularly start up front for Liverpool, but insisted that he will go down in Reds folklore for the goals he has scored for the club.
Origi was promoted to the starting lineup on Tuesday. Liverpool faced AC Milan in their final group-stage game in the Champions League.

Of course, the tie came just a few days after the Belgian scored the dramatic winner in their Premier League clash with Wolves. It was a strike that certainly has the potential to be looked back upon as a pivotal moment should the Reds go on and win the title.
‘The goals he scores, you just can’t ignore them’
It was Origi’s second league goal of the season. But in many ways, that sums up how the 26-year-old’s time at Anfield has gone.
He may not play as much as he would like. But when he does, he can always be relied upon to find the back of the net.
So it would have come as absolutely no surprise to many that it was Origi who scored the winner inside San Siro as Liverpool made it six wins from six in the group-stages of the competition.

And Owen admitted after the game that while he is never going to be a star player for Liverpool, there is no question that not many players can claim to have been as important.
“He’s not anywhere near the four players: Firmino, Jota, Mane and Salah. He’s a level below for me,” . “But when you’re an impact player like he is, then it doesn’t necessarily matter. Now he’s going to get a chance to obviously start a few games in January when the Africa Cup of Nations starts.
“Normally when he starts, I’m left wanting more. I think he almost does better as an impact player. But the goals he scores, you just can’t ignore them. He’ll go down in Liverpool folklore for what he’s done.”
Divock Origi continues to be wildcard as Liverpool set sights on knockout stages
Klopp was full of praise for Origi after the win at Wolves. He suggested that he would sign the striker if he was at another club.
Certainly, if a future Liverpool fan only knew about Origi from a highlight reel of his goals for the club, they would be forgiven for thinking that the former Lille man was the greatest player in the Reds’ history.
It is truly remarkable just how many times Origi has come up with an important goal. And you get the feeling that there are plenty more to come.
