Michael Mols ‘not sure’ if reported Rangers target Joey Veerman is right for SPL

Former Ranger striker Michael Mols has doubts over if reported Gers target Joey Veerman will be a right fit for the club or the style of the Scottish Premiership.

, the former Netherlands international admitted that he is not sure if a player of Veerman’s qualities would be best suited to a league as physical as the SPL, with Mols believing that the 22-year-old midfielder could struggle should he make the move to Scotland.

earlier this week that Rangers were interested in signing the Dutch youngster in the summer transfer window as Steven Gerrard looks to improve on his title-winning team, but for Mols, Veerman could be a player who might not take to Scottish football well.

Veerman said when asked about the Heerenveen attacker: “He is perfect with the ball and in possession he’s a really great player. His passing and movement with the ball is really relaxed in a good way. But in Scottish football there is a lot of emphasis on duels and fighting for the ball. I’m just not sure that would suit his style. He would maybe find it a little bit difficult to adapt.”

TBR View: Veerman’s quality is too good to pass up on despite SPL worries

Mols’ concerns over how Veerman would cope with Scottish football are reasonable, yet the 22-year-old midfielder is simply too good a player to pass up on if the opportunity is there for Rangers to sign him this summer.

Veerman would be a statement signing for Gerrard’s side as they prepare to compete in the UEFA Champions League, and a player of his quality in Scotland would send a message to the likes of Celtic that the blue half of Glasgow have no intention of slowing down now even with title number 55 in the bag.
