Michael Keane wowed by £100k-a-week Everton man’s quality and consistency

Everton defender Michael Keane has waxed lyrical about Toffees teammate Gylfi Sigurdsson, in conversation with the Goodison Park media team.

The 31-year-old has been in great form this season, making 25 Premier League appearances and 32 in all competitions.

Sigurdsson has been especially impressive the past few months, working relentlessly and providing plenty of goal contributions.

The Iceland international scored in the 2-0 win over Liverpool and assisted Richarlison for the winning goals against Southampton and West Brom.

In Thursday night’s 1-0 win over the Baggies, Sigurdsson provided the assist just a minute after coming on, prompting Keane to praise his teammate after the match.

“We see every day, the quality Gylfi has,” Keane told the Everton . “He has been proving it throughout the season.

“Maybe they [West Bromwich Albion] could have stopped it second time round.

“But we know Gylfi is going to put that quality in, Richy made a good run and got in front of the keeper, and it is a good header.”

Last season, Sigurdsson came under a lot of criticism for some of his performances, but he is one of many players who have gone up a level under Carlo Ancelotti this term.

It’s great to hear how much hard work the ace puts in and he’s very much reaping the rewards on the pitch for himself and for the Toffees.
