Michael Keane says £100k-a-week Everton ace always puts extra training in, ‘outstanding’ in FA Cup win
Everton defender Michael Keane has waxed lyrical about Gylfi Sigurdsson following his impressive display for Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees at Goodison Park last night.
The Icelandic playmaker was superb in the FA Cup fifth-round victory over Tottenham, bagging a goal and three assists en route to an incredible 5-4 victory on Merseyside.
Sigurdsson saved his best for last with a simply exquisite chip over the Spurs defence for Bernard’s extra-time matchwinner.

“That’s the quality we see he’s got every day,” Keane told the Everton .
“I’m just really happy for him because he works so hard, puts extra training in.
“Gylfi’s put his penalty away really well, got three assists and his general play and work ethic was second to none.
“I thought Gylfi was outstanding. Richarlison took his goal well, as did Dom. I think everyone put in an unbelievable shift and everyone is buzzing to go through.”
Everton found themselves a goal down after just three minutes through Davinson Sanchez’s header from a corner, but rallied round with three goals late in the first half.
Erik Lamela then pounced on the stroke of half time to make it 3-2, before Sanchez netted again to drag Spurs level just before the hour mark.
Richarlison put Everton 4-3 up on 68 minutes before substitute Harry Kane restored parity once again with a far-post header, but Sigurdsson and Bernard would have the final say.
TBR View:
Last season, Sigurdsson came under loads of criticism for many of his performances, but he is one of many players who have gone up a level under Ancelotti.
It’s great to hear how much hard work the ace puts in on the training ground and he’s very much reaping the rewards, him and his club.
