Michael Edwards now trying to sign midfielder whose lifelong dream is to play for Liverpool
Liverpool are now trying to sign a new midfielder – and judging by comments made in 2018, agreeing personal terms is unlikely to be an issue.
Michael Edwards – CEO of Football at Anfield – is looking to bolster the midfield department for Arne Slot after the departure of Thiago Alcantara.
A story from states that Liverpool are hoping to sign Genoa No.32 Morten Frendrup – and as that rumour breaks, it is definitely worth looking back on the Dane’s comments from 2018…
What Morten Frendrup said about Liverpool
As aforesaid, discussions over personal terms with the 23-year-old are unlikely to be problematic for Liverpool, if a fee can be agreed with Genoa.
Frendrup has previously said it is his lifelong “dream” to play for Liverpool at some stage in his career.
The man born in Tuse Sjællandske Nyheder back in 2018: “It is a dream I have always had, and I believe it will succeed. If I work hard, I believe in it.”

The Danish midfielder could now be about to see his dream turn into a reality.
Tutto Mercato Web believe Liverpool have made several enquires about Frendrup’s situation, although Genoa view their midfield maestro as an unsellable figure this summer, so Edwards will have to be particularly convincing in negotiations.
23-year-old could replace Wataru Endo
As you may have heard, Marseille recently submitted a €14m (£11.8m) bid to sign Wataru Endo, who is really Liverpool’s only natural option in that No.6 role at the base of Slot’s midfield.
Liverpool rejected the offer, although David Lynch believes an improved bid could tempt the Reds into a sale, which makes sense seeing as the Japan international turns 32 in February.
Therefore, Edwards could be laying down foundations to sign Frendrup as a replacement for Endo this summer, with Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic left as backup options for the No.6 role.

Whatever happens, Liverpool would seemingly have no problems in trying to convince Frendrup to move to Anfield this summer if a fee is agreed with Genoa, given his love for the Reds.
