Michael Dawson says £48m star now showing the form he produced before joining Tottenham
Tottenham sure like to take their fans on a rollercoaster.
Whether it’s Ange Postecoglou or Antonio Conte, you know that there is drama of some sort around the corner and it has been no different this season.
Tottenham blew a 2-0 lead at Brighton over the weekend, despite the team bang in form and looking for their sixth winning in all competitions.
As you can imagine, the Spurs faithful aren’t happy and there has been a negative reaction to that defeat.
Not because they have lost, but how they collapsed, how it’s the same old story and lessons aren’t being learnt.
It probably does Tottenham the world of good that the international break is now here because it allows the dust to settle down.
Postecoglou has a huge London derby to prepare for when the players return because it’s a small matter of facing West Ham United.
But amid the negativity, Michael Dawson wanted to look at the positives and the form of Brennan Johnson.
It wasn’t so long ago that Johnson was deactivating social media after stinging criticism when Spurs were beaten by north London rivals Arsenal.
But fast forward to the present and the Wales international has scored in six games on the bounce, with Dawson claiming that he is now starting to show the form he produced at Nottingham Forest, as he told The Football Show on (08/10/24 at 10:10 am).
Johnson made a transfer from Forest to Tottenham in 2023, and it’s fair to say that he has been on a few rocky roads.

“You try and look at the positives and you try to take that out when they arrive back,” said Dawson.
“I think the first-half performance was brilliant, they started the game so quickly. I loved the little ball in by Maddison into Solanke and this is something we haven’t seen an awful lot from Brennan Johnson in a Spurs shirt.
“He can come in off that right, he can end up in the middle of the 18-yard box and I think that showed a player full of confidence. Six in six. We saw him in the north London derby and after the game he got an awful lot of criticism on social media. He deleted that and, for me, it seems like it’s the best thing because he has gone on to score six in six. Brennan is off that and we are starting to see what I saw an awful lot at Nottingham Forest. He was scoring goals and playing with confidence – a very good return for him.”

Tottenham’s defence needs to step up
Tottenham’s defence is letting them down and if they don’t change their ways, then they will end up repeating the same issues.
The one positive that has gone under the radar is the fact that the team is free-scoring again and doing that without their injured captain, Son Heung-min.

Last season, the issue was the defence and defending corners. Nothing much has changed, in that regard, so that just puts extra pressure on Postecoglou.
