Micah Richards suggests Aston Villa should try to sign 24-year-old La Liga attacker now

Aston Villa are on the verge of doing something very special this season.

The Midlands club are just two points off the top of the Premier League table and Villa fans are daring to dream about being champions this season.

Villa need to kick on if they are to win the league, and with the January transfer window just around the corner, help could be on the way.

Speaking on , Micah Richards has been discussing Aston Villa’s potential January plans, and he says that Ben Brereton Diaz would be a decent addition to this side next month.

Brereton Diaz a good option for Villa

Richards shared his verdict on the Chile international.

“You know who I’m going to go with, someone left field and you guys probably haven’t seen him play, no disrespect, because we don’t watch a lot of Championship. We’re always working, so we the highlights but don’t always see the games,” Richards said.

“Someone like a [Ben] Brereton Diaz who was at Blackburn. Someone who’s just below a level, that’s what I’m trying to say.”

Need better

Brereton Diaz did look like a bright player in the Championship, but Aston Villa will need to do better if they are to achieve something historic this season.

We like Brereton Diaz as a player, but he’s not scored a single league goal this season – that’s not good enough.

Aston Villa have some amazing attackers on their books right now, and anyone they sign in that position would have to be a special player to get a sniff in this team.

Sadly, Brereton Diaz isn’t of that level, and he’s not someone Villa should really be considering at this moment in time.

It will certainly be interesting to see what Villa do in January, but it’s hard to imagine a player like Brereton Diaz will be on their radar.
