Micah Richards says something ‘crazy’ happened just before kick off in Arsenal vs Porto
Arsenal fans experienced a special night at the Emirates when their side knocked Porto out of the Champions League this week, and Micah Richards seemed impressed with the atmosphere there.
The Gunners went into the game a goal down from the first leg. Mikel Arteta‘s side had to turn things around, and they did it thanks to David Raya’s heroics in the penalty shootout. The Emirates was bouncing.

Micah Richards delivers verdict on Emirates atmosphere before Arsenal vs Porto
Arsenal were always criticised for having a quiet atmosphere at home, but since the start of last season, the Emirates has been very different.
The support the Gunners receive at home is just extraordinary. The Ashburton Army has played a massive part in that, as have other supporter groups involved at the club.
Against Porto this week, the atmosphere inside the stadium was absolutely electric. It wasn’t just during the game that the fans were cheering, it was before kick off too.
Jamie Carragher claimed yesterday that he had never seen an atmosphere like that before, and his CBS pal Micah Richards has now echoed a similar sentiment.
Speaking on the , Richards said: “Sometimes people ask you about atmospheres and what was it like. Sometimes you can exaggerate how good it was.
“Honestly, we’ve worked at the Emirates, I’ve played at the Emirates, but there was something special about being there because it was almost like a nervous energy to start with and then before kickoff, the place just erupted.
“It was crazy!”

Arsenal are making the Emirates a fortress
Mikel Arteta dreamt of making the Emirates Stadium a fortress when he took the job back in 2019, and he is getting closer to achieving his dream.
The atmosphere at the Gunners’ home ground has been unbelievable over the last 18 months. We’ve never seen anything like it at the Emirates since it opened in 2006.
That has helped Arsenal get over the line on multiple occasions. They have lost just one game at the Emirates all season and are yet to concede a goal in the Champions League at home.
If this continues, the Emirates will become a scary place to go to for Arsenal’s opponents, much more than it already is.
