Micah Richards says he rates Tottenham player, but he is costing Spurs points
that he rates Tottenham Hotspur right-back Serge Aurier despite Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United – but made it clear that the Ivorian ace is costing his side points as Spurs lost 3-1.
Aurier, 28, was handed his first start for Tottenham in six Premier League matches on Sunday as the Ivory Coast captain has been made to wait for a chance. He has only made the bench once in the previous five league games.
The ex-PSG man, who has clocked up 105 appearances for Spurs since joining the club in the summer of 2017, struggled to help Spurs win – and was caught out of position on numerous occasions. His future is in doubt, with a year left to run on his contract.
Included in the side for his attacking abilities, Aurier offered little going forward as well as mistakes at the back. Asked about the defender, Richards spoke of how he believes Aurier is a good player – but that he is letting the Tottenham side down.
