Micah Richards reckons £20m Everton player will actually score more than Dominic Calvert-Lewin this season

Everton got their first win of the weekend against Crystal Palace, and, all of a sudden, things are looking up at Goodison Park.

Indeed, after a drab start to the campaign, the Toffees can start to think positively after their first win of the season lifted out of the relegation zone.

Everton are now 16th in the table, and while that isn’t ideal, there’s reason to be optimistic.

Yes, Everton threw away two 2-0 leads in back-to-back weeks earlier this season, but you have to be a decent side to lead 2-0 against the likes of Bournemouth and Aston Villa, so if things tighten up at the back, Sean Dyche’s side could improve.

Speaking on , Micah Richards and Alan Shearer have made a couple of predictions about where Everton will finish this season and who their top scorer will be.

Shearer tipped Everton to finish where they currently are, 16th, while he thinks Dominic Calvert-Lewin will top the scoring charts.

Meanwhile, Richards made the same prediction about where Everton will finish, but he tipped Dwight McNeil to be Everton’s top scorer this season.

Dwight McNeil will be Everton’s top scorer

Richards and Shearer made a couple of predictions about Everton.

“I would love to know where you think Everton will finish at the end of the season and who do you think our top scorer will be?” The pair were asked.

“Fifth bottom and Calvert-Lewin,” Alan Shearer said.

“Fifth bottom. I agree with that yeah, and I’m going to go with McNeil,” Richards responded.

Dwight McNeil has started well

Dwight McNeil isn’t exactly the most prolific player in the Premier League, but he has started this season brilliantly.

He already has three goals and two assists to his name in this campaign, and if he can continue at that sort of rate, he may well be in the England conversation come the end of the season.

Of course, keeping that level up is easier said than done, and the reality is that Shearer’s prediction of Calvert-Lewin being Everton’s top scorer may be more realistic considering the fact he’s a striker and has already bagged two this term.
