Micah Richards names Liverpool legend as the best footballer he’s ever played with
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has been described by BBC Sport pundit Micah Richards as the best footballer he’s ever played with.
Richards, Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker were talking about the Anfield icon while discussing the top 10 FA Cup finals over the years in the latest Match of the Day Top 10 .
Gerrard’s heroics in the 2006 FA Cup final, in which he helped Liverpool overcome West Ham, saw him make the list.

The Reds began badly and found themselves two goals down through a Jamie Carragher own goal and a Dean Ashton effort.
Djibril Cisse and Gerrard pulled Liverpool level, but Paul Konchesky put Alan Pardew’s side back in front and seemingly on course for victory.
However, Gerrard equalised in injury time with a superb long-range strike, before scoring in the penalty shootout as the Reds won the last final in Cardiff.
Shearer : “That epitomises what Gerrard was all about – when his club were in the mire and you need someone to come and get you out, what a captain.
“The strike was just wow, the timing was ridiculous and how he was able to get that accuracy and power.
“Imagine doing penalties in the FA Cup, bad enough taking penalties as it is.”
And Richards, who played alongside the Liverpool legend for England, added: “Only Gerrard could do that.
“I think he’s the greatest player I’ve ever played with, he had absolutely everything.
“I couldn’t see a weakness in his game and I wasn’t surprised by what he did because he just had so much talent.”
