Micah Richards claims Arsenal should sign £120m striker instead of Ivan Toney this month

With Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side looking desperate for goals, pundit Micah Richards thinks he has now found the answer.

None of Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah or Kai Havertz have proven that they have the finishing capability to lead this Arsenal team yet.

And with Arteta’s side harbouring ambitions to win the Premier League and maybe even the Champions League, it’s clear something has to change.

Were the club not said to be hamstrung by their FFP restrictions this month, then a striker may be on the horizon.

Instead, it seems as if a deal will wait until the summer, when Arsenal could spend big.

Speaking on ‘’ podcast, Micah Richards was discussing the best options for Arsenal alongside Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker.

Perhaps with a view to the summer, Richards was convinced that Arteta should push the boat out to progress his Arsenal project.

Discussing who Arsenal should target, Richards said: “Arsenal, a striker.”

Shearer replied: “Osimhen!”

Richards: “Osimhen, he’s signed a new deal at Napoli.”

Lineker added: “I was surprised at that because they’re struggling this season, what are they seventh, eighth in the league?”

Shearer: “Or was that to get rid of his buy-out clause?”

Richards: “Osimhen would be my one for Arsenal.”

Micah Richards urges Mikel Arteta to bring Victor Osimhen to Arsenal

Of course, very few Arsenal fans would probably argue with that calibre of signing.

Whilst the often-linked Ivan Toney would be welcome this month, there’s no doubt that Osimhen is on another level.

Perhaps some fans will feel the club are still best-advised to wait until the summer when they can seek a signing similar to the level of Declan Rice.

And those fans will probably get their wish, unless Arteta does manage to offload players this month.

Perhaps Arsenal do have a £27m forward who would be a smarter sale in comparison to Emile Smith Rowe or Eddie Nketiah.

It’s certainly going to be an intriguing situation to watch, it doesn’t seem as if Arsenal can now ignore this window all together.

And whilst Richards is right to suggest Arteta should seek a signing to the level of Osimhen in the future, Arsenal also need to make some progress this month.
