Mesut Ozil praises display of Arsenal youngsters in huge Chelsea win

Arsenal arrested their recent slump with a stunning 3-1 win over London rivals Chelsea this Boxing Day.

The Gunners won the game after a penalty from Alexandre Lacazette, a stunning free-kick from Granit Xhaka and what looks like a mishit cross from Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal’s result was even more impressive when looking at some of the young faces in action.

Saka, Emile Smith-Rowe, and Gabriel Martinelli all started the game whilst Joe Willock came on in the second half.

All four played a key role in the win and left one man currently cast aside at The Emirates overwhelmingly pleased.

Mesut Ozil may not be involved in the Arsenal first-team at present, but the German is still a big cheerleader for the players on Twitter and was impressed by the performance.

The delicate irony here is that in Smith-Rowe in particular, Ozil was praising a direct rival to the starting place that is clearly not forthcoming under Mikel Arteta.

Smith-Rowe even showed why, with his tireless effort and ability to win the ball back completely opposing the way in which Ozil plays the game.

Arsenal fans will just be hoping that the youngsters can continue to impress and help the club build on this shock result.
