Mesut Ozil names Arsenal midfielder as most underrated player he’s played alongside
Mesut Ozil has picked out Arsenal teammate Matteo Guendouzi when asked by a fan on Twitter to name the most underrated player he has played alongside.
Despite not yet playing this season, Ozil has seemingly never been too far from the headlines. Of course, his absence from Mikel Arteta’s plans has received particular attention with Arsenal struggling right now.

Ozil’s lack of game-time has led to the Germany international being a lot more active on social media. And on Wednesday he invited followers to send him questions.
One of those sent to the 32-year-old saw him asked who the most underrated player he has featured alongside was.

And interestingly, he picked out a teammate who has also been sidelined by Arteta…
❤️ – I’m sure he will be a big football player one day!

Given the players Ozil has played alongside during his career, it is a huge statement to pick out Guendouzi.
The 21-year-old is, of course, out on loan with Hertha Berlin this season. He had previously been taken out of Arteta’s plans after losing his cool in the defeat at Brighton last term.
The Frenchman has looked bright during the early stages of his time in Germany. And it would be no surprise if a number of fans were hoping to see him brought back into the fold upon his return next summer.
Judging by Ozil’s claim, Arsenal may rue their decision if they choose to not hold onto him in the coming years.
